We recently completed a full flat renovation in Haymarket, Edinburgh, helping a client prepare their property for sale. The project came to us through a recommendation, and the client asked Jack to visit the apartment and suggest practical, cost-effective improvements that would enhance the flat’s value and appeal. Based on years of experience in kitchen refurbishment, flooring installation, and professional spray painting, Jack developed a custom plan that would refresh the entire space without exceeding the budget.
The kitchen was visibly worn and outdated, with damaged laminate worktops, faded cabinet doors, an old wooden table, unattractive wall tiles, and a corroded washing machine. Instead of replacing the whole kitchen, we decided to restore it. All cabinet fronts were professionally spray-painted to bring them back to life, and we replaced the old handles with modern black ones that gave the kitchen a fresh, contemporary look. The wooden table was refinished using durable protective coatings, and we upgraded the sink, electric hob, and cooker hood to modernise the space and improve functionality. To complete the transformation, we installed white Metro-style wall tiles, which brightened up the room and gave it a clean, modern finish.
The laminate worktops were badly affected by water damage and delamination, particularly around the sink area. We removed the damaged section and replaced it, then refinished the entire surface using Mid Grey spray paint combined with Spray Granite flakes. This process created a sleek, seamless surface with an attractive stone-like effect, making the worktops look brand new without the cost of a full replacement.
To match the refreshed kitchen, we installed Lifestyle SPC 5mm Rigid Core Vinyl Flooring in Cool Grey in both the hallway and kitchen areas. This type of LVT flooring is not only water-resistant and scratch-proof but also stylish and highly practical for high-traffic zones. Instead of using traditional quarter-round beading, we opted for a cleaner finish by sealing the edges with grey silicone, which blended perfectly with the flooring and maintained a modern, minimalist appearance.
