Solid Wood Kitchen Worktop Restoration – Real Granite Flake Spray Finish

For this project, we restored a heavily water-damaged wooden kitchen worktop using a real granite flake spray finish. The original surface had absorbed moisture over time, causing deep black mould stains and visible swelling. The mould had penetrated too deeply to be sanded out, and the surface had become uneven, making a full recoating the most effective and long-lasting solution.

We began by preparing the worktop – cleaning, drying, and removing any loose or weakened areas. A granite-style base coat in RAL 8025 with a 10% sheen was applied, followed by a full spray of real granite flakes. The client selected the flake blend on-site, choosing a combination that best suited their kitchen design. Once the coating was cured, we applied a clear protective top coat to seal the surface and ensure resistance to future moisture and wear.

In addition to the respray, we also replaced the existing kitchen tap, slightly raised the hob to prevent the oven doors from scratching the floor, and reattached the loose doors under the Belfast sink.

The final result is a refreshed, stone-effect worktop with a natural granite look and a durable, water-resistant finish that completely transformed the space.
